Date:

A video of a fire is being widely shared on social media with a claim that a CNG Petrol pump in Delhi’s Rohini area has caught fire.

The video is shared with a caption that reads, “दिल्ली के रोहिणी सेक्टर 11 में CNG पंप में भीषण आग लगी..” (English translation, “CNG pump caught fire in Rohini Sector 11 of Delhi.”)

The link to the post can be seen here.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be misleading.

On doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found that the same video was uploaded by a hyperlocal news channel Punch News on May 29, 2022. The video was uploaded with a description that read, “दिल्ली के रोहिणी स्थित एक शादी पंडाल में लगी आग का वीडियो भ्रामक दावे के साथ हुआ वायरल” (English translation: “A viral video of fire breakout in a marriage tent in Rohini is being shared with a misleading claim.”)

We found the same video was also uploaded by another YouTube channel, Deshhit News, on March 28, 2022.

A screenshot of the viral video was also uploaded by Delhi Police with a caption that read, “A video being spread on social media, of fire at a CNG pump in Rohini, is factually incorrect. Incident of fire took place on 24th Mar at a pandal wherein no casualties were reported. #DelhiPolice acted promptly to help contain the situation.”

Hence, the viral video shows a fire accident at a marriage tent in Delhi and not at a CNG petrol pump.
