Tesla Welcomed To Manufacture In India But Can’t Import From China: Nitin Gadkari

Date:

New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that he is ready to welcome Elon Musk’s Tesla to manufacture E-vehicles in India, but it cannot be a “good proposition” if he decides to manufacture in China and sell in India.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari commented on “high duties” imposed by India, “It is a very easy alternative, if Elon Musk is ready to manufacture a Tesla in India, there is no problem. We have got all the competencies, and the vendors are available. We have got all types of technology and because of that, he can reduce the cost,”.

The Union Minister further highlighted the huge market opportunity for Tesla in India. He said that “He is welcomed in India. We don’t have any problem, but, suppose he wants to manufacture in China and sell in India, it cannot be a good proposition for India.”

He further pointed out that India is a huge market and has tremendous growth opportunities for e-vehicles and said if he manufactures in India then it will be a “win-win situation for both.”
