The Scottish capital of Edinburgh is named Time Out’s best city for the year 2022. An extinct volcano, a massive hilltop castle, and a row of historically old buildings can all be seen in the city’s skyline, this is one of the many reasons why it is at the top of the list.
More than that, the city is well-known for its popular arts festivals and expanding foodie scene. Locals who took part in the survey commended the city for being a pedestrian-friendly place and for having a warm, inclusive atmosphere.
Time out’s goal was to highlight the top best cities which are fun and lively to visit. Important factors like sustainability initiatives, use of public transport, and safety of the residents are also taken into consideration while ranking.

Times Out Index is a survey in which media companies ask 20,000 inhabitants of the city and global editors about what makes their city special. Based on the data collected, the cities are ranked globally.
