Shubman Gill Breaks Sachin Tendulkar’s Record As India Whitewash The Series Against Zimbabwe

Harare: India whitewash Zimbabwe by registering their third ODI win on Monday by 13 runs at the Harare Sports Academy.

Skipper KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bat first in the innings. The opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul managed a quick start but failed to hold on to their wickets as Dhawan scored 40 runs while KL Rahul managed to add 30 runs.

Shubman Gill played a fierce innings and scored his maiden ODI ton at the Harare Ground. With these innings, Gill proved his abilities to the side as well as to himself with an innings of 130 runs including 15 fours and one six.

Gill managed to shatter Sachin Tendulkar’s age old record by scoring the highest individual score by an Indian against Zimbabwe in ODIs. The previous highest score in ODIs against Zimbabwe by an Indian was by Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 127* in 1998 in the first ODI of a three-match series.

Zimbabwe’s Sean Williams played a balanced knock of 45 runs. Sikandar Raza played a sublime innings of 115 runs in 95 deliveries taking the team total to a close to the chase. He was dismissed in the 48th over by Shradul Thakur as India managed to win the game.

With this win, India has created a record of most series whitewash in the year 2022 surpassing New Zealand and Pakistan.
