NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the claim to be misleading.
We ran a keyword search and found the original video which was streamed on Amit Shah‘s YouTube channel on September 12, 2022.
We carefully examined the video and found the statement at 25:08 minutes into the video.
In the video, he says, “If we look at the numbers, in 1969-70, 40 grams of milk was available for every person in the country. In 2021, because of co-operative dairy, milk production in the country has increased from 40 grams to 155 grams.”
In the video, he is talking about milk availability per capita.
We then ran a search and found a report by Business Line where the per capita milk availability was measured in grams/day.
Moreover, in the Economic Survey 2021-22, the same measuring unit (grams/day) was used for per capita milk availability.
We also found that the same grams/day unit was used for per capita milk availability in a press release by the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, dated June 1, 2021.
Thus, based on the above fact check, it is clear that Amit Shah used the correct unit and the viral clip is being circulated with a misleading claim.
