Kanpur: Atleast ten people are feared to be killed and more than a dozen are reported injured after a tractor trolley carrying pilgrims overturned in Ghatampur area on Saturday.
According to reports, the pilgrims were returning from Unnao. Rescue operation is underway with police on the spot. The injured were taken to the nearby hospital for further treatment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and added “Distressed by the tractor-trolley mishap in Kanpur. My thoughts are with all those who have lost their near and dear ones. Prayers with the injured. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to the affected.”

PM Modi further announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from PMNRF to the next of kin of each of the deceased. The injured would be given ₹ 50,000.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath added that senior officers have been instructed to reach the spot immediately.
