Fact Check: Don’t Fall for This FAKE Billboard with Image of Journalist Anjana Kashyap

Date:

A picture of a billboard with journalist Anjana Om Kashyap on it is doing the rounds on social media. The text on the billboard reads: “I am not journalist. I’m unofficial spokesperson of BJP”.

The above post can be seen here.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture, and found it to be FAKE.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we found the original picture on the official Twitter handle of India Today. The tweet, dated May 1, 2017, carried the original picture of the billboard with Anjana Kashyap and the text reads: ‘Anjana reached and writing’.

In the above FAKE vs REAL collage, it is clear that the text on the original picture was replaced using photo editing software. Hence, the picture in question is FAKE and it is digitally manipulated.
