New Delhi: Asian Cricket Council President Jay Shah on Tuesday put an end to the speculation over the Indian cricket team travelling to Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023 and said that the team will not travel to Pakistan.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said the tournament will be held at a neutral venue. Pakistan is set to host the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup followed by the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Jay Shah on the sidelines of the AGM meeting said that “It’s the government which decides over the permission of the team visiting Pakistan so we won’t comment on that but for the 2023 Asia Cup it’s decided that the tournament will be held at some neutral venue,”.
He further added that “The venue for the 2025 Championship trophy is still to be decided, we will comment on that when it is decided.”
The Indian side travelled to Pakistan in 2005-06 under the captainship of Rahul Dravid. The last bilateral series between the rivals was played in India during the 2012-13 season.
