Fact Checked: Viral Post Claiming That ‘UNESCO Declares Modi as the Best Prime Minister of the world’ Is Fake

Date:

A post has been shared on social media, claiming that UNESCO has declared PM Narendra Modi as the best Prime Minister in the world.

The text on the picture reads: “Congratulation to all of us Our PM Narendra D Modi is now declared as the BEST PM OF THE WORLD by UNESCO. Kindly share this. Very proud to be an INDIAN.”

Here’s the link to the post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

We did not find any such list or announcement on the website of UNSECO.

Running a Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same image in an India Today report, dated June 12, 2013. The caption of the image reads: “Narendra Modi’s new office is located next to the old CM office on the Sachivalaya campus.”

This proves that the image was taken when Narendra Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat.

The same post had been shared extensively in 2019. Speaking to NewsMobile in 2019, the UNESCO spokesperson had said: “We would like to confirm that this news is wrongly attributed to UNESCO, and the organisation has not released any such list.”

Hence, it is clear that the viral post is false.
