Acid Attack On Delhi Schoolgirl Case: All Three Accused Arrested

Date:

New Delhi: All three accused have been arrested for throwing acid at a 17-year-old girl in Dwarka on Wednesday, ANI quoted DCP M Harshvardhan as he says.

The incident triggered severe outrage and led the ruling AAP, National Commission for Protection Of Child Rights, and other groups to raise questions about the availability of acid in Delhi markets despite a ban.

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) issued notice earlier on Wednesday to Delhi Police to arrest the attackers. National Commission For Women chairperson also wrote to CP Delhi to intervene in the matter and to ensure FIR and arrest of the accused.

A minor was allegedly attacked with acid-like substance at around 7:30 am by two bike-borne persons Wednesday morning. The girl was going to school with her younger sister at the time of the incident.

A PCR call was received around 9 am about the incident.

The girl has now been referred to Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi and is under treatment with. She has reportedly received 8% burn injuries.

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Chairperson Swati Maliwal stated, “We have issued notice to Delhi Police to arrest the attackers & to give strict punishment to them. We’re helping the victim & her family. But the biggest question here is why retail sale of acid isn’t banned, even after several notices.”

She also tweeted about the incident and said that the commission will seek justice for the victim.

The CCTV footage has emerged where the face of the accused is seen covered.
