A viral video showing a verbal spat between two doctors in an operation theatre is doing the rounds on social media. Users have shared the video claiming it to be from the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh, while some claim it to be from Pakistan.
A Facebook user posted the viral video with a caption: बेचारे मरीज़ का क्या हाल हो रहा होगा! जाने कितनी बार मर मर कर जिया होगा! डाक्टर साहिबान थोड़ा रहम कीजिए .. ये वीडियो #PGI, चंडीगढ़ का बताया जा रहा है…कबीर सिंह मत बनो यार लो reel थी, OT पर real मरीज़ है.. Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, we identified a news article published by Hindustan Times on August 31, 2017, with a title: Doctors fight in operation theatre in Jodhpur hospital, woman loses newborn.
The picture in the article matches one of the keyframes of the viral video and the article informs that the incident occurred in Jodhpur’s Umaid Hospital over ego clash while performing a caesarean section.
The article also contains a YouTube video. The video, titled: Watch Doctors indulge in verbal spat during surgery of pregnant woman Rajasthan News, published on August 30, 2017, matches exactly with the viral clip proving that the incident, indeed, happened in Jodhpur.
Also, a shorter version of the video had been tweeted by the Indian news agency ANI on August 30, 2017. Here too, we can see that ANI has mentioned the location to be Jodhpur.
Many major media houses like NDTV, BBC, The Hindu, Deccan Herald, and Scroll, had also covered the news, corroborating the fact that the incident happened in Jodhpur.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video is misleading.
