Dubai: A glorious and illustrious chapter of Tennis comes to an end as India’s icon Sania Mirza played her last match at the WTA Dubai Duty Free Championships on Tuesday.
Sania Mirza and her partner Madison Keys lost 4-6 0-6 to the Russian pair of Vernokia Kudermetova and Liudmila Samsonova.
Last month, Sania took part in her final Grand Slam and ended as a runner-up at the Australian Open along with Rohan Bopanna.
Sania Mirza remains an inspiration for a generation of Indian tennis players, especially women. She started playing as a pro back in 2003. She ended her career with six Grand Slam titles, which includes three women’s doubles and three in mixed doubles.
