Date:

A graphic which reads “Ek Mohalla, Ek Bakra” allegedly posted by Dainik Jagran is widely shared on social media, claiming that it is the newspaper’s new ad for Eid.

The text embedded in the image reads: “एक मुहल्ला एक बकरा – इस बार बकरीद पर हो सके तो पुरे मोहल्ले मे एक ही बकरे की कुर्बानी दे इससे अपनापन बढेगा खून खच्चर कम होगा पानी की बर्बादी कम होगी गन्दगी कम फैलेगी दैनिक जागरण की पहल”

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.

Doing a Reverse Image Search, we spotted the original ad with a title: “एक मुहल्ला एक होलिका” (one neighbourhood, one bonfire). Searching further, we found that this was a Dainik Jagran campaign urging people to celebrate Holi in an eco-friendly manner. The subtext states: “This time on Holi attempt to ignite as many distinct Holikas at a distance as possible,” in reference to the ritual known as “Holika Dahan”.

A report published by Dainik Jagran, dated March 8, had revealed the results of its campaign in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh.

On March 7, a tweet from the Hardoi Police‘s official account appreciated the impact of the newspaper’s campaign during the ‘Holika Dahan’ holiday.

Thus, it is evident that an edited graphic is shared as Dainik Jagran’s ad campaign for Eid.
