Bengal: Violence In Hooghly During Ram Navami Shobhayatra, Internet Services Suspended

Kolkata: Days after the incident of ruckus and clash in Howrah district of West Bengal, another incident of violence was reported from Hooghly on Sunday during the Ram Navami Shobha Yatra. 

The state government has further suspended internet services in the Hooghly area after the incident of violence. The internet will remain suspended till April 3.

Meanwhile, state BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar wrote a letter to Union Minister Amit Shah seeking the centre’s interference in the case.

According to visuals shared by newswire agency ANI, ruckus and stone pelting erupted during BJP’s Shobha yatra in Hooghly district of West Bengal. 

Dilip Ghosh, BJP National Vice President in a statement added that “Stone pelted on women and children during the Shobha yatra. The state government is taking no action even after the Howrah violence.” 

Talking about the incident, he further added that “Stones are being pelted and vehicles are being vandalized.” 

Earlier on Thursday, clashes broke out between two groups when a Ram Navami procession was passing through Kazipara in Howrah.
