Such Dilution Leads To Impunity: IAS Body To Bihar Govt On Release Of Ex MP

Date:

Patna: The Central IAS Association on Tuesday expressed ‘deep dismay’ over the decision of the Bihar government to release from jail former Lok Sabha member Anand Mohan Singh who was convicted in the murder case of former IAS G.Krishnaiah.

In a letter to the state government, the top IAS body said “A convict of a charge of murder of a public servant on duty, cannot be re-classified to a less heinous category.”

The letter further added “Such dilution leads to impunity, erosion in morale of public servants, undermines public order and makes a mockery of administration of justice.”

Talking about the release of the convicts, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister said “What’s the controversy in this? He has served his sentence and is being released legally.”

Earlier today, Slain IAS officer G Krishnaiah’s wife Uma Devi expressed displeasure over the Bihar government’s decision.

She said “We are not happy, we feel it is wrong. There is caste politics in Bihar, he is a Rajput, so he will get Rajput votes. Otherwise, what is the need of releasing a criminal? He will be given an election ticket so that he can bring Rajput votes”.

Earlier in the day, the Bihar government issued a notification regarding the release of 27 prisoners including former Lok Sabha MP Anand Mohan Singh from jail.
