IPL 2023: MS Dhoni Led CSK Wins The Toss, Opts To Bat Against Punjab Kings

Date:

Chennai: MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat first against Punjab Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday’s first clash.

Dhoni joins the game with the same playing XI as the previous few encounters. Batting first, Dhoni claimed that heat remains a factor in Chennai. He said “The fast bowlers can get some rest. In the day game, few players are too early. It is important to be intelligent. Not to be exposed to a lot under the sun.”

The side will be looking to get back on track after losing the last game against Rajasthan Royals by 32 runs.

Punjab Kings on the other hand are placed sixth in the points table. After losing the toss, Shikhar Dhawan claimed that he would have opted to bat first too as the wicket remains dry at Chepauk.

Rahul Chahar will remain a key player for the side owing to his outstanding stats in Chennai. He has taken 11 wickets in seven matches with an economy rate of 6.14.

Both the teams will eye to win the crucial encounter and firm their spot in the top four of the points table.
