Fact Check: Video Of A Child Offering Prayers In The Middle Of Road In Dubai Linked To Karnataka Elections

A video showing a child offering Namaz in the middle of a busy road is widely shared on social media claiming that the video was taken in Karnataka after Congress emerged as the winner in the Karnataka 2023 Assembly elections. 

The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: नये रुझान सत्ता परिवर्तन के बाद कर्नाटक के सड़क के दृश्य का आनंद लें। * किस तरह एक बच्चे के कारण पूरी ट्रैफिक का रूट बदल जाता है , यह लोग संविधान को भी अपने तरीके से चलाते है बस कुछ समय बाद 40 % होने दो , फिर देखो क्या क्या करते है अभी वक्त है जागो , आगे आने वाली विकराल समस्या को भी जानने की कोशिश करो !! , क्या तुम्हारा भविष्य है जो देश कि विकास की बात करे उस को गाली देते रहना जो आने वाले तुम्हारी पीढ़ी को बचाने में जुटा है

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be false. 

Performing a Reverse Image Search, we traced a tweet carrying the same viral video on January 17, 2023, with a caption: “How does one country produce so many rectums? How does Pakistan do it?”, hinting that the video might be from Pakistan. 

Closely going through the viral video, we spotted the TikTok username ‘@ajom75uddin’ in the bottom right corner. 

The original video had been uploaded on January 10, 2023, on Ajom75uddin’s Facebook page by the username @ajom75uddin. 

According to this Facebook profile, the user’s location is Dubai.  

1. Checking the Dubai traffic police on Google, we identified a picture of an “Arkan” security guard shared on Glassdoor’s website. According to Ejadah‘s website, Arkan is a security company offering its services in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. In addition, we also found an interview with a security guard of Arkan on YouTube. His uniform matches the uniform of the security guard present in the viral video. 
2. The background of the video shows a man wearing the uniform similar to that of a food delivery executive. Conducting a reverse image search, we discovered several images of food delivery executives donning a similar dress and logo. And the uniform and logo belong to Talabat, a food delivery service operating out of Dubai.

Thus, it is clear that the viral video is most likely from Dubai, not Karnataka. Therefore, the viral claim is false.
