New Delhi: Delhi’s Rohini Court took cognizance of the charge sheet presented by the Police against Sahil, the prime suspect in the Shahbad dairy murder case, on Saturday. The court has scheduled the matter for further discussions and arguments on July 20.
Fast Track Special Judge (POCSO) Richa Gusain Solanki, presiding over the Rohini Court, took note of the charge sheet submitted by the Delhi Police.
Furthermore, the court has designated advocate CM Sangwan as amicus curiae to provide assistance in representing the accused.
Sahil was apprehended on charges of allegedly participating in the brutal stabbing and murder of a minor girl in the Shahbad Dairy area on May 28. The accused reportedly inflicted multiple stab wounds and bludgeoned her face with a stone slab.
This gruesome incident unfolded in the presence of the public and was recorded on CCTV footage. The authorities managed to apprehend the accused within a span of 24 hours
The Delhi Police have filed an extensive charge sheet consisting of 640 pages on Tuesday, incorporating crucial scientific evidence such as CCTV footage, voice samples, and biological evidence. Additionally, the charge sheet includes the report from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL).
The charge sheet involved various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) such as 302 (Murder), 354A (Using criminal force to outrage the modesty of a woman), and 509 (Punishment for insulting a woman by word, gesture, or act). The charge sheet also invokes sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and section 3 (2)(V) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
