New Delhi: An incident occurred on the Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express on Tuesday, close to Brahmapur Station in Odisha. An unfortunate case of “brake binding” caused smoke to erupt from one of the train’s coaches.
A sack getting twisted in a coach’s wheel caused the smoke, according to a railway official. The obstruction-causing sack was quickly removed, and the ensuing fire was quickly put out by the railway employees using a fire extinguisher.
“The smoke was not due to any mishap but brake binding as a sack had got stuck in a wheel of a coach. We have removed the sack from the wheel and also used a fire extinguisher. The train halted for around 15-30 minutes. A thorough check will be carried out at Brahmapur station,” said Railway officer Basanta Kumar Satpathy.
