FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.

Searching the The Washington Post website about Bill Gates’ alleged arrest, the NM team could not find any news related to Bill Gates’ arrest. Even there was no credible news source reporting about the arrest of Bill Gates.

Performing a Reverse Image Search of the keyframes from the viral video, our team could find a YouTube video, dated August 25, 2016, about the death penalty. The video contained footage that had significant similarities with the viral picture, including clothing, the style of tying hands and feet, and even the leg of a standing person. Specifically, at the 8:14-minute mark in the video, we found the same footage that had been edited to create the fake picture of Bill Gates.

Below is the comparison between the viral image and the original image.

Thus, it is evident from the above information that an edited image is falsely shared as Bill Gates has been arrested in the US.
