New Delhi: The Lok Sabha Privileges Committee will initiate an investigation into the complaint of misconduct lodged against Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on August 18.
Chaudhury was suspended from the Lok Sabha last week.
The committee led by BJP member Sunil Kumar Singh is scheduled to discuss the motion approved on August 10. The motion addresses Chowdhury’s “gross, deliberate, and repeated misconduct,” showing disregard for the House and the Chair’s authority.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi had termed Chowdhury’s action “Habitual and Deliberate.”
Earlier, during the No-Confidence Motion debate, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla objected to the behaviour of Chowdhury and BJP leader Virendra Singh.
However, Singh had expressed his apology to the Chair for his behaviour during the House session and escaped action.
