New Delhi: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar’s social media post on Independence Day is winning hearts. The actor who has been facing criticism over the years for his Canadian citizenship, finally has been granted an Indian citizenshp.
Sharing a picture of his documents which shows his name ‘Akshay Hariom Bhatia’ on X formerly known as Twitter, the actor informed all his fans about his citizenship and wished everyone for Independence Day.
He captioned the tweet as, ‘Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!.’

On many occasions, the actor in the past had informed that he would soon renounce his Canadian citizenship and has applied for the Indian one here to show the love that he has for this country, and so he did today by sharing this on such a special day for all the Indians.
According to a report by India Today, the actor had applied for the Canadian citizenship back in 1990 in search of work, because of the poor performance of his films at the box office, when he gave back to back 15 flops.
But, today Akshay Kumar is one of the biggest stars of the country wth movies that have done great numbers at the box office and have earned a lot of appreciation and love of the audience as well. His movies like OMG, OMG 2 Toilet- Ek Prem Katha, Padman, Laxmi, Atrangi Re, among others, are loved by all.
On the work-front, Akshay Kumar’s OMG-2 also starring Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi was released last week in the theaters, and has received an overwhelming response by the audience.
