A video clip is doing rounds on social media claiming that the sixty years old Hanuman Mandir was demolished by the Delhi administration while the Shrine (Mazar) next to the temple remains untouched.
In the viral video, the reporter claims that the people of Jahangirpuri, Seemapuri, Mangolpuri etc. have created a ‘mini Pakistan’ by occupying roads and parks, but no officer has the power to remove that encroachment, only Hindu temples were demolished by the administration.
A Facebook user shared this and wrote, “दिल्ली में एक और 60 वर्ष पुराना झंडेवालान मंदिर के पास का हनुमान मंदिर को रात के दो बजे तोड़ दिया गया। श्रद्धालु गंदे पानी के अंदर खड़े होकर आरती कर रहे है। लेकिन फिर बड़ा सवाल किया किसी की हिम्मत है जहाँ एंक्रोचमैंट के नाम से सड़के की सड़के क़ब्ज़ा की जा चुकी है। MCD,DDA के पार्क के पार्क क़ब्ज़ा किया जा चुका है। उनके ऊपर कब चलेगा बुलडोज़र.”
[English Translation: Another 60-year-old Hanuman temple near Jhandewalan temple in Delhi was vandalized at 2 am. Devotees are performing aarti standing inside the dirty water. But then there is a big question, does anyone have the courage to ask how much roads have been made in the name of encroachment? Parks of MCD and DDA parks have been occupied. When will the bulldozer run over them.]

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be misleading.
Performing a keyword search on Google, NewsMobile fact checkers came across an ‘X’ post (formally known as Twitter) by news channel AajTak dated August 2020 in which similar visuals and temple can be seen.
According to the post, PWD removed encroachments near Mama-Bhanje Mazar and Peepaleshwar Temple in the Jhandewalan area of Delhi. Two days after giving the notice, the PWD department demolished illegal parts of both Mama-Bhanja Mazar and Temple at 5 a.m. The temple is located just 100 meters away from the tomb. The shrine was almost 250 years old while the temple was around 60 years old.

We also came across several video reports stating that both the Temple and Shrine were demolished. According to an India TV report, during an anti-encroachment drive, the PWD demolished the illegal construction of Mamu Bhanje’s tomb near Jhandewalan Mata Mandir in Delhi. The report also mentioned the action taken by the PWD against a nearby temple.
Wajid Khan, the manager of Mama-Bhanja Mazar, said that the PWD put a notice on Friday and destroyed it on Sunday morning, leaving no time for paperwork. In response to the allegation of encroachment, Khan argues that the structure is 250 years old and if it had been made in the present time, it could have been called an encroachment.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that not only the temple near Jhandewalan but also the illegal part of the shrine was also been demolished during the encroachment drive.
