New Delhi: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Kokernag area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday. This resulted in injuries to officers from both the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police took to their official social media account on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) to announce that both Army and JKP (Jammu and Kashmir Police) officers have sustained injuries.

Earlier, a senior police officer reported that during an exchange of gunfire in the Narla region, one terrorist was eliminated and a soldier tragically lost his life. Additionally, three security personnel, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), sustained injuries in the encounter.

Security forces eliminated another terrorist in an ongoing firefight with militants on Wednesday, officials reported.

“Second terrorist has been gunned down in the ongoing encounter in Narla area of Rajouri,” Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu said.

Earlier, during the ongoing Rajouri encounter operation in Jammu and Kashmir, Kent, a six-year-old female Labrador serving with the 21 Army Dog Unit, bravely sacrificed her life to protect her handler.

Kent was at the forefront of a group of soldiers tracking down fleeing terrorists when she was tragically caught in a barrage of intense enemy gunfire.
