A post showing images of two women has gone viral on social media. It’s claimed that they are daughters of the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti. Many users have shared the post saying that both daughters of Mufti don’t follow Islamic rules, and yet the latter wants Muslim girls in India to wear a burqa.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with a caption:
These are the 2 daughters of Mehbooba Mufti. Irtika and Iltiza Mufti.
One became IFS via backdoor and now working in London.
2nd acts in Bollywood, she was seen in Omkara Movie.
Both live normal non-Islamic life, but Mehbooba Mufti wants all Kashmiri girls to live in burqa.

With a Google keyword search to know about Mehbooba Mufti’s family and her daughters’ lives, our NM team traced a news article in Hindustan Times, dated August 27, 2023, and titled: No, my daughter did not act in Omkara: Mehbooba Mufti on ‘non-Islamic’ allegation. She has clarified that while her brother Tassaduq shot the movie Omkara, her elder daughter had no role in the movie.
Checking about the cast for the movie Omkara on IMDB confirmed that there was no actor in the movie by the name of Irtiqa Mufti or Irtiqa Iqbal.
Searching for the second claim about one of her daughters is an IFS officer in London, we found Mufti’s reply to a tweet clarifying that her daughter has been in Kashmir since 2015.
Another news article in The Indian Express, dated August 30, 2023, and titled: Mehbooba’s daughter Iltija Mufti appointed her media advisor, informs that Iltija Mufti was recently appointed the media adviser for her mother. Prior to this, she had already been the in-charge of Mufti’s social media handles since 2019. There was no official record of Iltija as an IFS officer or at the Indian High Commission in London.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, criticising Mehbooba Mufti for the non-Islamic lifestyle of her daughters, is false.
