PM Modi Attends BJP’s Election Committee Meet To Finalise Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh Election Candidates

Date:

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attended the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) meeting at the party’s headquarters in Delhi.

BJP President JP Nadda extended a warm welcome to PM Modi upon his arrival at the party headquarters for the ongoing election committee meeting.

This gathering, dedicated to finalizing candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, is currently in progress at the party headquarters in the national capital.

Key leaders of the saffron party, including BJP Chief JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, were present at the meeting venue.

Senior leaders including Vasundhara Raje, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Pralhad Joshi were among the senior leaders present at the election committee meeting.

According to the reports, the BJP’s election committee meeting will address candidates for about 60 to 70 seats in Rajasthan, and decisions regarding candidates for 31 seats in Chhattisgarh are expected to be finalized in the presence of PM Modi.

The BJP is actively refining its election strategies for five states heading to the polls, which include Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The party has classified all constituencies in these states into distinct groups identified as A, B, C, and D.

Seats in Category A represent areas where the party has consistently excelled, whereas Category B encompasses constituencies with a mixed history of BJP victories and losses.

Category C consists of seats where the party is considered to be on less firm ground. In contrast, Category D includes seats where the BJP has faced continuous defeats in the last three elections, as per media reports.

The elections for Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh are expected to take place in December 2023, although the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not yet announced the official dates.
