In the 18th over of the match, with Afghanistan struggling at 112 for the loss of five wickets, a sudden rain shower disrupted the play. The match then went on to get washed out, and India won gold in the event.
India won the gold medal as they are the number one team in the men’s T20 cricket rankings, while Afghanistan currently holds the tenth spot in the rankings.
