Fact Check: 2020 Video of Mock Funeral From Jordan Falsely Linked to Recent Gaza Bombing

As hostilities between Israel and Palestine continue to escalate, a video is being widely shared on social media, showing some men carrying out a funeral procession. However, the men can be seen leaving the corpse in the middle of the road and running away as soon as they hear a siren. The clip also shows the ‘dead body’ getting up and running.

The video is being shared with a caption: Watch this video carefully until the end.. Some Palestinians are seen carrying a small boy’s body while chanting religious praises.. They’ve even granted an interview to Al Jazeera.. alleging that this boy fell victim to Israeli airstrikes.. However, in the end, as sirens blare, they abruptly leave the body behind and the seemingly lifeless boy suddenly gets up and runs away as well..

According to the video caption, it is from Jordan where a group took out a mock funeral to step out during the lockdown.

The same video was also uploaded by an Abu-Dhabi based news portal 24.ae. According to the caption, the video was recorded in Jordan in 2020.

Hence, from the above information, it is clear that the viral video is an old one from Jordan and is not related to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
