Gurugram: An eagerly anticipated online date took a distressing turn for a young man, leaving him with an alarming experience. The unfortunate incident transpired during a meetup arranged through the Bumble dating app. The man alleged that a woman, after purportedly drugging him at his DLF Phase 4 residence, disappeared with his mobile phone and valuable gold jewellery and drained a substantial sum of ₹1.78 lakh from his bank accounts, as reported by local police.
The victim, Rohit Gupta, detailed his ordeal in his official complaint. He had connected with a woman named Sakshi, who also went by the name Payal, on the Bumble online dating platform. According to Gupta, the woman claimed to have her roots in Delhi and was currently residing with her aunt in Gurugram.
Gupta recounted the sequence of events, saying, “On October 1, she called me and said she wanted to meet me. Around 10 pm, she called me to pick her up from near Dockyard Bar in Sector 47. I picked her up and then bought some liquor from a nearby shop and came to my house.” Once at his residence, the woman requested that he fetch ice from the kitchen. During his brief absence, she allegedly spiked his drink with a drug.
Gupta revealed that the effects of the drug were so severe that he woke up on the morning of October 3. He discovered that the woman had vanished, along with his gold chain, an iPhone 14 Pro, ₹10,000 in cash, and credit and debit cards.
He further lamented, “I found ₹ 1.78 lakh were also withdrawn through my credit and debit cards,” which he detailed in his complaint to the police.
Despite the incident, the woman remains at large. Authorities have initiated a case against her at Sector 29 Police Station, as confirmed by the police.
