New Delhi: Legendary spinner and former Indian captain, Bishan Singh Bedi, passed away at the age of 77 on Monday. Bedi, a cricket legend, showcased his spin-bowling prowess in 67 Tests for India from 1967 to 1979, claiming an impressive 266 wickets. He also made notable contributions in the limited-overs format, taking seven wickets in ten One-Day Internationals.
Bedi, alongside Erapalli Prasanna, BS Chandrasekhar, and S. Venkataraghavan, played a crucial role in revolutionizing the landscape of Indian spin bowling.
He played a crucial role in India’s first ODI win, contributing with remarkable bowling figures of 12-8-6-1 in a 1975 World Cup match, restricting East Africa to 120 runs.
