Many users on social media claim that Hamas destroyed several Israeli tanks and hoisted Palestinian flags on them.
A Facebook user shared this vide and wrote,”हम गांजा को तुम्हारे लिए जहन्नुम बना दगा” हमास ने कई इज़रायली टैंकों को नष्ट कर दिया, सैनिकों को पकड़ लिया….मुजाहिदीन के दुश्मन के टैंकों पर फलिस्तीनी के झंडे लहरा दिए ।। शुक्र अलहम्दुलिल्लाह.” [English translation: We’ll make ganja hell for you. Hamas destroyed several Israeli tanks, and captured soldiers… Palestinian flags were hoisted on the tanks of the enemy Mujahideen. Alhamdulillah.]

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, our team found the same visual in a news report of Middle East Monitor, dated December 30, 2020, with a title: “Palestinian factions hold joint military drills in Gaza.” According to the report, the video shows a military exercise held in the Rafah area of the South Gaza Strip on 29 December 2020. The spokesperson stressed that the military wings of the Palestinian factions, including Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and other PLO members took part in this mock drill. We also compared the image available in the news report with the viral footage. (See: Below.)
Similar visuals with report were also found in AlJazeera, dated December 30, 2020, with a caption: “Palestinian resistance factions in the Gaza Strip carried out joint military manoeuvres coinciding with the anniversary of the Israeli war on the Strip in 2008. The manoeuvres included multiple defence scenarios throughout Gaza Strip.”
Thus, it is confirmed that the viral video is from December 30,2020, showing a mock drill conducted by Hamas. It is NOT related to the ongoing Israel-Hamas war.
