New Delhi: In response to the deteriorating air quality in Delhi, Environment Minister Gopal Rai made a significant announcement on Monday. He declared that, until November 10, all schools in the city will be temporarily closed, with the exception of Classes 10 and 12. Previously, students from Classes 6 to 12 had the option to attend online classes.
Furthermore, following the Diwali festivities, an “odd-even” traffic rule will be implemented for a one-week duration from November 13 to November 20.
Talking about the implementation of the odd-even rule Rai said “A meeting has been called tomorrow to have further discussions on how to implement the Odd-Even scheme in Delhi…There are over 7,000 buses running in Delhi, out of which 1,000 are electric. The frequency of buses and metros has also increased. To reduce vehicular pollution, an odd-even scheme has been started.”

The overall air quality in the National Capital continues to be in the ‘severe’ category for the fifth straight day, as per the Central Pollution Control Board. AQI measured at 9 AM from ITO in Delhi was recorded as 400 in the Very Poor Category.
