A clip from Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) asking questions related to the Kamalnath government is going viral on social media. Many users assume it to be true.
In one of its episode, Bachchan asks a question worth ₹20,000 to a contestant: How many farmers’ loans had been waived off by the Kamalnath government of Madhya Pradesh in 2018?” The contestant chooses option B, i.e., 27 lakhs.
A Facebook user shared this video and wrote, “वायरल वीडियो अब KBC में गूंजा कमलनाथ सरकार की किसान कर्जमाफी का मुद्दा, अमिताभ बोले शिवराज ने बंद की किसान कर्जमाफी. सही जवाब देकर प्रतियोगी ने जीते पैसे.” [English translation: Now the issue of farmer loan waiver of Kamalnath government echoed in KBC. Amitabh said that Shivraj has stopped the farmer loan waiver. The contestant won the money by giving the correct answer.]

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, our team found the same video on the official YouTube handle of Set India, dated November 06, 2023. According to the video, the name of the participant seen in it is Rahul Kumar, who is a resident of Khurai, Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh. In the original video, Amitabh Bachchan asked Rahul a question about what is not true regarding the states of Gujarat and Karnataka. Rahul answered by selecting the second option, ‘Hooghly’, which was the correct answer. This is because the Hooghly River does not flow through Gujarat or Karnataka, but through West Bengal. At 1:27 seconds of timestamp, one can see the original video.
Upon closer examination of the video, we noticed that the lip movements don’t match the audio. This suggests that the audio was added separately.
It is worth noting that the issue of loan waiver for farmers in Madhya Pradesh remains a constant topic of discussion. Recently in a tweet, former MP CM Kamalnath said that his government had waived off the loans of around 27 lakh farmers. He also claimed that the BJP government had stopped providing this benefit to the farmers.
