Putting the video keyframes through a Reverse Image Search, our team spotted the same video in a tweet by Kann News, a Hebrew-language media channel, dated September 10, 2023. According to the tweet, the viral incident took place on Ayalon highway in Tel Aviv. The driver explained to cops that his son, a new driver, had been driving the car before he got overwhelmed by the protesters blocking the road. The father, in the front passenger seat, decided to switch seats with his son, but accidentally hit the gas when he was moving into the driver’s seat, causing the car to jolt forward into the protesters.

We also came across a report from The Times Of Israel, dated September 10, 2023, carrying the still of the viral video. According to the report, several people were thrown to the concrete and a 25-year-old woman sustained injuries. The driver was detained by police for questioning and later released, with investigators accepting his claim that it was an accident, and he did not intend to hit the demonstrators.
Later, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a statement, saying: “I strongly condemn any form of violence, everyone must act with restraint and uphold the law.”
