Fact Check: Viral Post Claiming Seema Haider’s Husband Sachin Was Murdered Is Baseless

A video has gone viral claiming that Sachin Meena, the Indian husband of Seema Haider who came to India from Pakistan, was murdered. The clip also carries a report showing Seema crying while interacting with the media.

A Facebook user shared this video and wrote: “सीमा हैदर के पति सचिन का किसी ने कर दिया खून | antim sanskar live video Seema Haider Sachin.” [English translation: Someone murdered Seema Haider’s husband Sachin. Antim sanskar live video Seema Haider Sachin.]

This Facebook post can be seen here.

It is being widely shared on Facebook and X with a similar claim.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be false.

Even with an open keyword search, our team was not able to find any credible media report corroborating the viral claim. We found this video was made by combining different visauals.

Conducting a reverse image search of the video keyframes, we found the same footage in a TV9 news report, dated July 24, 2023, with a title: “Seema Haider started crying bitterly, said, I do not want to go back to Pakistan.” According to the report, Sachin was not at home due to illness, and Seema was crying and expressing how much she was missing him and feeling weak without him.

In the following clip, a police official stated that they received information around 4 o’clock and when they arrived at the crime scene, the victim was already taken to the hospital in an ambulance, where he was later declared dead. However, it is worth noting that the police official did not mention Sachin’s name in the statement.

Similarly, visuals within the viral clip date back to 2016, showing the aftermath of a terrorist attack in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, where 17 soldiers, including Ganesh Shankar Yadav from Sant Kabir Nagar, lost their lives. The footage reflects the sombre atmosphere at Yadav’s home upon receiving the news of his martyrdom.

Furthermore, the viral clip features an image showing the funeral of Jaipal Punia, a salt entrepreneur hailing from Churu, Rajasthan, who was murdered in May 2022. Also, at the end of the viral clip, a voiceover mentions that this is part of a film made on the life of Seema-Sachin, clarifying that Sachin is not dead.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video is edited and completely baseless.
