Meanwhile, many verified social media handles and mainstream media shared an image of the tunnel rescue operation claiming it showed group photos of rescuers
A Facebook user shared this image and wrote, “उत्तराखंड के उत्तरकाशी में सिल्क्यारा टनल में फंसे श्रमवीरों की सकुशल वापसी मानवता और टीम वर्क की एक अद्भुत मिसाल है। ये अदम्य इच्छाशक्ति और साहस से भरपूर। ये नया भारत अपने नागरिकों को बचाने के लिए जी-जान झोंक देता है। रेस्क्यू टीम एवं समस्त श्रमवीरों का आत्मीय अभिनंदन। आपका साहस और धैर्य हर किसी को प्रेरित कर रहा है। मैं आप सभी की कुशलता और उत्तम स्वास्थ्य की कामना करता हूं। इस बचाव अभियान से जुड़े सभी लोगों के जज्बे को सलाम।”

We first observed the viral image and noticed several errors that suggest the possibility of the image being AI-generated. A closer examination of the image reveals blurry eyes, inconsistent facial features, and deformed fingers.

On searching more, we came across a tweet by X account @Exclusive_Minds carrying several AI-generated images including the viral image. We also came across a reply by the same handle indicating that the images are AI-generated.
