Date:

New Delhi: A 14-year-old from Haryana’s Mahendragarh, named Mayank and studying in Class 8, made history by becoming the youngest contestant ever to win Rs 1 crore on the 15th edition of the popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati. Viewers were amazed when he correctly answered the 16th question, stunning everyone watching the iconic show hosted by Amitabh Bachchan.

A teaser shared on X by the show’s creators features Mayank, exuding confidence and ambition as he claims the grand prize. In the video, the young contestant asserts, ‘The only thing that matters is your knowledge.’ Additionally, the promo depicts Mr. Bachchan inquiring about Mayank’s exceptional performance from his parents. ‘He has even challenged his school teachers. He’s two steps ahead of them in the classroom,’ quips his father.

While striving for the grand prize, Mayank showcased impressive gameplay by securing Rs 3.2 lakh without relying on any lifelines. He strategically utilized his first lifeline for the Rs 12.5 lakh question along his path to victory.

Effortlessly answering 15 questions, Mayank confidently faced the pivotal ‘Rs 1 crore’ question: ‘Which European Cartographer is credited with creating the map that has the name America to the newly discovered continent?’

The options presented were: Abraham Ortelius, Geradus Mercator, Giovanni Battista Agnese, and Martin Waldseemüller.

Selecting the correct answer, Martin Waldseemuller, Mayank secured Rs 1 crore. Despite daring to tackle the final question for Rs 7 crore, he decided to opt out after being unable to answer it. The young champion also garnered praise from Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, who congratulated him on X.
