Fact Check: Morphed Visual Goes Viral As PM Modi Watching Aniruddhachary On TV

Date:

A video showing PM Modi allegedly watching Aniruddhacharya on TV in what seems like a conference room is widely circulated on social media.

The video is shared with the text: गौ हत्या पर बोले महाराज जी कि मोदी जी हो गए हैरान (English translation: Maharaj ji’s words on cow slaughter left Modi ji shocked).

Here’s the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be False.

Performing a Reverse Image Search, the NM team identified an ANI tweet carrying the original video, dated July 22, 2019, with the text: “Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi watched the live telecast of #Chandrayaan2 launch by ISRO, at 2:43 pm today.”

The same video with similar information was available on YouTube channels of NDTV, Hindustan Times and India Today on July 22, 2019.

According to an ABP News report, dated July 22, 2019, the launch of Chandrayaan 2 was a historic event, which symbolised the progress of Indian science. The launch was originally planned for July 15, 2019, but was cancelled due to mechanical problems.

Earlier, NewsMobile had debunked the same video when it was shared as PM Modi reacting to Pathaan trailer.
