Major General GD Bakshi Is All Praise For Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur

Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur continues to garner praise for bringing the story of the man whose life, whose achievements were nothing less than an inspiration, alive again through his stellar performance. Social media is filled with people sharing their positive reviews about the movie, and how they could re-live the life of a real-life hero because of this movie.

Not just that, these reviews also include people who at some point in their lives had the opportunity to work or meet Sam Manekshaw in person. Some of them have shared anecdotes of what it was like to meet our country’s most beloved war general in person. One such review is of Maj Gen (Dr)GD Bakshi SM, VSM(retd).

Sharing his views after watching the movie, Gen Bakshi took to X and wrote, ‘Just saw the classic Biopic Sam Bahadur. Meghna has done a commendable job In capturing the essence of the most charismatic Fd Mshl. I had the honour of shaking his hand after my NDA POP & still get goosebumps. Vicky Transformed himself into Sam bringing that iconic gen to life’.

Praising Meghna Gulzar who is the director of this masterpiece, Gen Bakshi said that the essence of that era has been succinctly captured. He added, ‘Meghna has succinctly captured the essence of that era with incisive vignettes like Sam asking Kaul about his combat experience & refusing to send soldiers for Building contents. The fearless Sam & his irrepressible sense of humour shines through this biopic. Well done Meghna & Vicky.’

The internet is all praise for Sam Bahadur, the team’s effort to bring a real-life story to our screens with so much conviction. Sam Bahadur is a biographical war drama film based on the life of India’s first field marshal, Sam Manekshaw. It is directed by Meghna Gulzar who co-wrote with Bhavani Iyer and Shantanu Srivastava.

The diverse cast of the movie also includes- Sanya Malhotra as Silloo Manekshaw, Sam’s wife, Fatima Sana Shaikh as Indira Gandhi, Neeraj Kabi as Jawaharlal Nehru, Edward Sonnenblick as Lord Mountbatten, Govind Namdev as Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Yahya Khan, Bobby Arora as Major O. S. Kalkat, Rajiv Kachroo as Hormusji Manekshaw.
