With Reverse Image Search, the NM team traced the official Facebook handle of DMK politician Udhayanidhi Stalin carrying the same viral image on November 29, 2021, with a caption: “Oversaw the works to remove stagnated rain water due to #NorthEastMonsoon at Triplicane C.N.K street in #ChepaukTriplicane constituency. Requested Corporation and Chennai Metrowater and Sewerage Board officials to complete the works at a faster pace”.
The same information had also been posted on his Twitter account in 2021. This means that the image is old and unrelated to the recent Chennai rain.
