Running a Google Keyword Search, our team traced a YouTube video on the official channel of ABP Ganga, dated November 30, 2023, with a title: KANPUR NEWS : ट्रैफिक कर्मियों ने तमंचा लगाए बाइक सवार को पकड़ा | ABP GANGA LIVE.

The news report informs that a young man on a bike jumped the traffic signal and collided with another bike. And a gun fell from his pocket which caught the eye of the traffic police nearby. The police found a pistol and cartridges with him.

Searching further, our team identified a quote-tweet by the Police Commissionerate, Kanpur Nagar, carrying the viral clip. The Kanpur Police issued a press release informing that on November 29, 2023, a person riding a bike without wearing a helmet was crossing the Taat Mill intersection. On seeing the traffic police, he tried to run away but collided with another bike coming from other direction. And the gun he was carrying fell on the ground. The traffic police immediately took him into custody, and put him behind bars.

The incident was also published in Aaj Tak and Zee News

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming a policeman was caught handing a gun to a man to implicate him in a crime, is fake.
