Running the video keyframe through Reverse Image Search, the NM team traced a news article by NDTV, dated October 25, 2023 and titled: Fire Breakout in Patalkot Express: पातालकोट ट्रेन में लगी भीषण आग, दो बोगियां जलकर हुई खाक, इतने यात्री झुलसे (English: Fire Breakout in Patalkot Express: Massive fire broke out in Patalkot train, two bogies burnt to ashes, many passengers burnt.)
According to the article, a massive fire broke out in “Patalkot Express” (Delhi to Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh). The fire broke out in four bogies, out of which three bogies were completely burnt. The injured passengers are undergoing treatment. The image in the article, too, matches with one of the keyframes of the viral video. The article further states that the incident happened near Bhandai station after the train left Agra Cantt.
Another article from The Hindu also corroborates the claims made by NDTV. The incident happened between Agra and Gwalior.
We could not find any credible news source linking the incident to Kanpur. Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming to show visuals of a train on fire in Kanpur recently, is false.
