NIA Arrests Eight ISIS Terrorists, Plan Of IED Blasts Foiled

Date:

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency apprehended eight individuals associated with an Islamic State module in Ballari, Karnataka, on Monday. The coordinated raids, conducted across 19 locations in four states, including Mumbai, Pune, and Delhi, successfully foiled plans for IED blasts.

During its raids, the agency seized caches of explosive materials, including sulphur, potassium nitrate, and gunpowder. Alongside these findings, weapons and documents outlining proposed strikes were also recovered. Among the recovered items were sharp-edged weapons like daggers, cash, and various digital devices.

Authorities also arrested Minaz, also known as Mohammed Sulaiman, the head of the Ballari module. The crackdown spanned across various locations like Ballari, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, and Bokaro in Jharkhand. The apprehended terrorists devised plans involving explosive materials to craft improvised explosive devices (IEDs), intended for unspecified acts of terror.

The raids came following the recent NIA case filed against the Ballari module. A collaborative operation between the agency, state police, and various central agencies helped apprehend the terrorists involved.
