Many users claim that ₹250 crore cash was found in the house of a BJP minister in Kanpur, yet the BJP and the media are quiet about it. Many have criticised the hypocrisy of the BJP around the raid.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team identified a tweet by ANI, dated December 24, 2021. According to the tweet, the raid took place at the house of a businessman named Piyush Jain from Kanpur, and ₹150 crore was seized in the raid by the time the video was tweeted. The video matches exactly with the viral clip.
Taking a cue from this, we searched further about the raid at Jain’s house. Our team found a news article on AajTak, dated December 29, 2021 and titled: Piyush Jain Raid: 196 करोड़ कैश, 23 KG सोना, 600 KG चंदन का तेल… पीयूष जैन के ‘तहखानों’ से क्या-क्या मिला
The article further informs that the raids on businessman Piyush Jain’s locations in Kanpur and Kannauj ended after 120 hours of investigation and about 50 hours of interrogation. A total of ₹195 crore in cash, gold worth ₹10 crore, and sandalwood oil worth ₹6 crore were recovered in the raid.
There was no mention of BJP connection in either of the news reports. We could not find any other credible news source connecting Piyush Jain with the BJP.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming ₹250 crore was recovered in a BJP minister’s house in Kanpur recently, is false.
