Next month, the grand Ram Temple in Ayodhya will welcome the installation of an idol portraying Lord Ram in his child-like form, also known as Ram Lalla, within the sanctrum crafted from pure white Makrana marble, according to the temple trust quoted in several media reports.
According to Champat rai, the secretary of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the child like form of Lord Ram will be around 15-inch tall. The idol will reflect the 5-year old child like form of Lord Ram. A decision is yet to be made out of three designs. He said, ‘The one which has the best divineness and will display a child look will be selected’.
Champat Rai further shared that around 21-22 lakh cubic feet of stone has been used for the construction of the structure. He added, ‘Such a big stone structure would not have been built in Northern India even in the last 100-200 years, not even in the South’.
‘A foundation of 56-layered artificial rock, created by engineers, has been laid below the structure. Second, a plinth comprising 17000 granite blocks from Karnataka and Telangana has been laid up to 21 feet above the ground. Around five lakh cubic feet of pink colour sandstone from Bharatpur, Rajasthan have been used to construct the temple structure. The sanctum sanctorum of the temple is made up of pure white Makrana marble, which is ready’, Champat rai was quoted in a report by NDTV.
The consecration ceremony of the Ram temple is scheduled to take place on January 22. The ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and various other important dignitaries and personalities from different walks of life.
