New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, will not be present for questioning on Wednesday regarding the Delhi liquor policy case, said the Aam Aadmi Party. They’ve denounced the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) summons as illegal, alleging its sole purpose is Mr. Kejriwal’s arrest.
This marks the third summons directed at Arvind Kejriwal, who is also the AAP’s national convenor, subsequent to his refusal to appear before the probe agency on earlier occasions, November 2 and December 21.
Asserting Delhi Chief Minister’s willingness to cooperate while denouncing the legality of the summons, the Aam Aadmi Party claims they’re aimed at arresting him, coinciding suspiciously close to election time.
While the AAP chief had previously faced questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation in April regarding the case, he hadn’t been implicated as an accused by the agency.
Speculation about the potential arrest of the Delhi Chief Minister by the ED has been rife since the issuance of the initial summons. Several AAP leaders have echoed similar concerns, highlighting the perceived intent.
In prior developments, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested in February, while AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was taken into custody in October in relation to the same case.
