The creators of Don 3 are actively involved in casting for the film’s new characters, with Ranveer Singh set to headline in the iconic role. Last year, Ranveer took on the role in Farhan Akhtar’s directorial, following performances by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in different eras. In an exciting development, Emraan Hashmi is in talks to play the antagonist.
Emraan Hashmi’s potential casting gained attention when he was spotted at Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment office, arriving in a new premium car. Despite teasing from the paparazzi about his potential role, Emraan greeted them before heading inside.
In an August 2023 statement, Farhan Akhtar reflected on the legacy of Don, created by Salim-Javed and originally portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan in 1978. Shah Rukh Khan reimagined the character in 2006. Farhan expressed readiness to carry the legacy forward with an actor whose talent he admires, announcing a new era of Don in 2025.
The 1978 version starred Amitabh Bachchan in a dual role as Don and Vijay, directed by Chandra Barot. Farhan Akhtar directed the 2007 version with Shah Rukh Khan in a double role and a sequel in 2011. Regarding the third instalment, Ranveer Singh emphasized the significance of continuing the legacy of two great superstars and pledged to give his best performance.
