India Set To Host 71st Miss World Pageant After 28-Year Gap

New Delhi : India is all set to be the host for the 71st Miss World pageant after a gap of 28 years, as announced by the event organizers. It will be globally streamed and telecast.

The official page of Miss World took to X and wrote, “Chairman of Miss World, Julia Morley CBE stated, “Excitement fills the air as we proudly announce India as the host country for Miss World. A celebration of beauty, diversity, and empowerment awaits. Get ready for a spectacular journey! #MissWorldIndia #BeautyWithAPurpose.”

Reita Faria Powell achieved the historic feat of becoming the first Indian woman to win the Miss World crown in 1966.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan secured the Miss World crown in 1994, followed by Diana Hayden in 1997. Yukta Mookhey clinched the title in 1999, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas claimed the Miss World title in 2000. The most recent triumph came in 2017 when Manushi Chhillar was crowned Miss World.

The reigning titleholder, Karolina Bielawska of Poland, will pass on the crown to the next Miss World at the conclusion of the upcoming event.

From February 18 to March 9, this year’s event will take place at notable venues such as the impressive G-20 site, Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, and the stunning Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

The Opening Ceremony and ‘India Welcomes the World Gala’ are scheduled for February 20, hosted by the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) at Hotel Ashok in New Delhi. The grand finale of the 71st Miss World is set to take place on March 9 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

Chairman and CEO of the Miss World Organization, Julia Evelyn Morley CBE in a statement said, “Returning to India, a country that I adore, and bringing 120 National champions to experience the beauty of this nation is a tremendous honour. Miss World is not just one event it’s a month-long festival to celebrate female achievement. We will be bringing the world to India and showcasing India to the world.”

The Miss World event, founded in 1951, highlights a shift from traditional beauty contests. It takes a new approach, emphasizing the ability and intelligence to create positive change through humanitarian service.

This year, each participant will have their dedicated media channel on MissWorld.com, offering a platform to demonstrate why they deserve a spot in the Top 20 finals.

Key competitions in the event include the World Top Designer Award and Miss World Top Model in Mumbai, the Miss World Sports Challenge in New Delhi, the Miss World Talent Final in Mumbai, the Multi-Media Challenge in Mumbai, and the Head To Head Challenge Final at The Summit Room, Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on February 23.

There is the Continental Beauty With A Purpose Challenge at Plenary Hall, Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on February 21, and the Miss World Red Carpet Special at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

The 71st Miss world Final is being produced by Endemol Shine India. Rishi Negi, Group COO of Banijay Asia and Endemol Shine India, stated, “Securing the television production mandate for the 71st Miss World finale is a testament to our leadership and excellence in event production.”

The live telecast of the 71st Miss World Final is scheduled for March 9, from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm, at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
