An image showing a letter issued by Pakistan’s Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) is doing the rounds on social media. According to this letter, the PMO instructs all media houses to avoid reporting the recent Iranian strikes in Pakistan, and further bars the media personnel from entering the affected areas.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with a caption: बाद में बोलेंगे कुछ पेड़ गिरे है और कुछ कौए म@रे है इससे ज्यादा कुछ नुकसान नहीं हुआ है 🤣 | Iran Airstrikes (English: Will say later some trees have fallen and some crows have m@ray, no more damage than this 🤣. Iran Airstrikes.)

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Given that the date in the notice is January 17, 2024, we checked the official website of Pakistan Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), but no such document was found.
The official X handle of Pakistan government also does not carry any tweet over the incident. The last post done on the handle was on January 17, 2024, but it had nothing to do with the viral notice.
Finally, we came across a tweet from the same day by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Pakistan (MoIB) clarifying that the notice is fake. The government has not issued any such document.
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming Pakistan’s PMO issued a notice to all its media houses to avoid reporting Iranian strikes in Pakistan, is false.
