The post reads: “In 2019, during General elections, more than 300 EVM caught by the locals stored inside a shop. Location — Chandauli, UP. The same will repeat unless we switch to ballot papers.”

NewsMobile fact-checked the post, and found it to be misleading.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team identified the Facebook post carrying the same video, dated May 20, 2019, with a caption: “Murder of Democracy! More than 300 EVM caught by the locals stored inside a shop. Location — Chandauli, UP.”
We also found an X post by the district magistrate (DM) of Chandauli, dated January 29, 2024, reacting to one such viral video on X and refuting the claims. The caption reads: “twitter.com/PratiharSurend प्रकरण की जाँच पूर्ण कर ली गई है। यह वीडियो वर्ष २०१९ लोक सभा चुनाव के दौरान का है।तत्समय VVPAT को राजनीतिक दलों के प्रतिनिधियों की उपस्थिति में शिफ्ट किया गया था। किसी प्रकार से कोई अनियमित कार्य नहीं हुआ था।” (English translation: twitter.com/PratiharSurend The investigation of the case has been completed.
